I keep feeling like I need to update my blog, but today's one of those days where I feel incredibly picked on, so this might not be super perky....

Since our great waterfall experience we've had 2 more pipes break. I told Loren, you might not enjoy fixing all these, but just think! In a couple weeks we'll have totally new pipes in the whole house. :)

I've been faithfully going to zumba twice week, eating considerably more fruits and veggies, and just being more active and despite not seeing any change on the scale, I do notice that I feel happier during the day. I feel better about myself when I look in the mirror, although my clothes don't fit any better. I just overall have a little better attitude.

Aly's hitting the terrible twos hard this week. Temper-tantrums are the worst and make me very tired. She spends a lot of time on time-out for hitting Mommy, or not obeying. This morning she had to go back to bed for a while until she could come out and be happy. She just cried over anything and was wrecking my Sunday morning! She's at a fun age tho for all the summer activities. We're hoping for more sunshine this week so that we can go to the zoo and the swimming pool more.

Evy is getting more and more active and awake. Her cute little smiles are so sweet. We're working on laughing and trying to roll back over onto her tummy again. She can roll front to back tho. :) She's learning so much so fast. She's a little babbler, so we might be in for another big talker. Then we'll never have a moment of peace. ;)

We're looking forward to many summer trips this year. Yellowstone, SLC, Manti, etc...Should keep us entertained. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-70854852826811260572013-05-10T20:12:00.001-07:002013-05-10T20:12:45.996-07:00When it rains it pours....LITERALLY.

So yesterday Loren and I were having a conversation. We have gotten two of the medical bills from Evelyn's birth and one of them we paid right away because it was so manageable and the other isn't scary either. Although it's the exact same bill (my epidural) that we got when Alysha was born, the amount didn't worry us like it did last time. With Alysha's arrival came the stress of money and collections and a huge learning experience for us about paying bills. I hated to check the mail because of the scary things I'd find in there. We struggled with keeping all the places straight that we owed money and it took almost 18 months for us to finally get it all sorted out and Alysha 2 years old by the time we got everybody paid out. So yesterday after receiving this bill in the mail we talked about how much more relaxed we were. How it didn't seem so high anymore and how much better prepared we are this time around. How we knew where to expect our money to go and how we had money to send there! Mistake #1.

As I left for Zumba last night, I noticed that the sprinklers were on in the front yard and I remember thinking to myself, "I'd better remember to check those when I get home and if they're still on, turn them off." I didn't. So Loren woke up this morning and was leaving for work when he saw that they had been left on all night. Oops. He turned them off and thought about how high our water bill will be and how green our grass will be :).

Tonight we went downstairs and were about to play our new Wii game when Loren thought the carpet seemed a little damp by the couch. He asked me why, and I couldn't think of anything that I'd spilled there this afternoon so I walked over to see if maybe it was just cold over there and he thought it was wet? It was wet. So we pulled the couch away from the wall and it was VERY wet. The carpet was soaked. Loren started pulling away the carpet and the baseboards and we discovered everything VERY wet for a space about 2x10 feet. We still can't be sure how it got in, just that it is. The wall isn't affected so it can't have come down from the window well, but who knows. Anyway, Loren called a clean-up company here in town and the guy on-call, out of the goodness of his heart, came over for a free consult. (Probably hoping for some business, little did he know that Loren's worked for a clean-up company and just wanted a second opinion) The guy said that he'd charge $150 to take care of it all. But that if we dried it out really well with fans and replaced that portion of the pad we'd be good to go. So now we had a plan.

While we're downstairs looking at it after the guy left, we hear flowing water. Dismissed it at first, because the washing machine was running, but quickly realized that we shouldn't hear the washing machine draining, turned on the light, and found water flowing from the ceiling in our laundry room. I had left Aly upstairs in the bathtub while I cleaned the living room up and she had been dumping cups of water out of the bathtub and it was draining through the wall behind the toilet.

Luckily the laundry room downstairs isn't finished so the water drained nicely into a drain and there was so messy sheet-rock on the ceiling. But still. The previous owners had failed to mention that they'd also had this problem because upon pulling away the insulation...well let's just say that the ceiling is quite a mess. But it's also not something that we <strike>can</strike> need to do anything about right away.

I'm ready for bed.

Loren went to the store to get a box fan and he said he fully expected a freak hail storm in the house while he was gone. I think he's ready to throw me away, even though he says he doesn't blame me for any of it.

Teaches us to talk about being comfortable...bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-88489037699791997082013-05-06T08:16:00.001-07:002013-05-06T08:16:53.632-07:00Evelyn's EntranceSo with all the hip and back pain I'd had this pregnancy I think everyone's aware of how ready to be done with pregnancy I was. I think Loren's even questioning having any more kids because of how I was the last couple weeks of this one. Let's just say that my hormones were fairly out of wack and he worried for my mental state. But then the DR decided to play with me again and he set an induction date...and then changed it. I spent the last 5 days of my pregnancy very angry and ornery and spent most of my time crying and trying to tell the baby to vacate the premises. But nevertheless she stayed in and I ended up getting induced March 25th, 4 days before my due date.

After a late start (because it took so much longer to get us all up and ready to go than I thought) we finally dropped Aly off at my aunt and uncle's house for the day and got to the hospital about 5:45 AM. I got checked into my room and got all the monitors on me. And I was having contractions already! (I could have told them that everyday for the past week). But they weren't regular or strong so they started the PIT and we settled in for the day. The baby was just like Alysha was- it wouldn't leave the monitor alone, so we saw A LOT of the nurse as she had to frequently come hold the monitor on my belly so the computer would stop freaking out. Loren and I tried to get some sleep as we hadn't gone to bed til very late the night before trying to get last minute things done.

I kept getting checked and I wasn't progressing as quickly as I wanted to, especially about 10 when the contractions started coming much stronger. They were coming about on top of each other, without a break, but my water still hadn't broken and the nurse said I was only at a 3cm. So finally about 11 I convinced her to get the anesthesiologist for my epidural.

After getting my epidural I was magically at a 6cm and about 10 minutes later my water broke on it's own. So when the DR came to check me at 12:30 and he said it wouldn't be much longer I rejoiced!

About 2 o'clock the nurse checked me and sent someone to call the Dr as I was very ready to deliver. He got there and coached Loren a little bit and at 3:03 PM Loren delivered our little Evelyn Joy. She had the cord wrapped around her neck, but she starting crying right away and was JUST FINE!

I made sure the nurse knew that I wanted to breastfeed right away so as soon as the Dr was out and she was cleaned up I fed her, hoping to establish that good habit early. I really wanted breastfeeding to work for me this time. So far so good! It's been 6 weeks and Evelyn is growing really well and hasn't had any formula.

Anyway, we visited with a little family that night and then settled down to just be with the baby. Luckily Loren's parents were willing to come up and watch Aly so he could spend that night with me in the hospital. Not that he wakes up at night ;) but it was nice to have him there. The next day we got the ok from both my and Evelyn's drs to go home, but they both wrote in their notes to discharge Wednesday, so when we tried to leave later Tuesday afternoon, we got met with a little resistance from the nurse. Finally they got ahold of both drs to make sure we were good to go and to get me a Rx for pain meds (:)) and we took our little family home!

The past few weeks have definitely taken some adjustments, but we've grown so much together learning about this new little girl that's come into our lives. She's definitely different from Alysha, but that's what makes it fun :). And we feel so much more relaxed this time around too.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to have our family over and blessed Evy at church. It was such a wonderful experience and we're so grateful for all the support that we received and for everyone that traveled to be with us. (Which was basically everybody :)) bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-31044130398514008042013-05-03T15:07:00.002-07:002013-05-03T15:07:35.842-07:00Back-BloggingMoving weekend

We were so blessed by all the people that came to help us this weekend! We closed on our house early Friday morning, the 1st of March. It really didn't take that long and then we were just waiting for it to finish getting processed. We thought about going out to celebrate, but we really just wanted to be out of the apartment so we went back there to finish packing. In the afternoon we got the keys and starting taking loads over ourselfs in the back of our van. We got a good lot packed in there and made a couple trips. Then some friends from the ward (and Alysha's favorite baby-sitters) came over to help and we made a couple good trips in their suburban, while Alysha stayed at their house with their kids. Then I got left at the house while Loren went back to the apartment to help the Elder's Quorum load up. They put it all in a couple trucks and only made 2 trips! There were SOOO many of them, including most of the Young Men from the ward too. One Brother even stayed afterwards and set up a bed for us. Then we went and picked up Aly and CRASHED. We were exhausted.
The next morning we celebrated moving at IHOP and headed to the apartment for what we thought would be 3 hours of cleaning. Over 10 hours later we were glad for the relief society, angry with our landlord, thankful to be out of there, and just happy to be home-owners!
Making the adjustment to the new ward has been slow-going. We encountered the same kind of mentality from some people that we had at our last ward- mainly that they thought we'd moved into the apartments across the street from our house and therefore weren't all that apt to getting to know us. But since we've pushed that rumor away, people are getting a little bit more friendly and we're slowly starting to make friends. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-14774517480937069742013-02-27T10:19:00.000-08:002013-02-27T10:19:24.043-08:00ReadyHad our final walk-through of the house yesterday. I'm just ready to be moved in! Friday can't come fast enough. We met the sellers too. They seemed nice enough. Luckily all the repairs are done and they're finished moving out so now we're just waiting to sign paperwork so we can get the keys. I have the feeling it's going to be a long night Friday.

Had another DR appointment today. As it gets closer I start to feel like I'm living there. 50% effaced and the baby's in the perfect position. So now we just need to keep her there for a few more weeks. I don't think that's problem. She doesn't really have much room to move so I can't see her presenting breach. She has a nice heartbeat of 165 and the PA says she thinks she's doing just perfectly.

Last night was SO weird. Loren and I were hooked on a couple intense episodes of Grey's Anatomy so we were awake a lot longer than usual and Alysha started crying about 1:30 and instead of letting her cry back to sleep we got up to see what the problem was. She started crying that she needed to go potty, so I took her to sit on it. She didn't do anything and I led her back to bed where she told me she wanted to watch "Ellen". We watch the Ellen show every day. I told her it wasn't on so she told me to turn on Elmo's World. Obviously I wasn't going to let her up to sit on the couch and watch Elmo's world in the middle of the night, so she started crying uncontrollably for Elmo's World. It was so bizarre! We finally got her back to sleep after a drink of milk and a drink of water and letting her cry for a few more minutes. I don't think she was actually awake for any of that. It was just so unlike her! Usually if she wakes up in the middle of the night she's back to sleep super quickly. But I wonder if all this moving stress and the coming baby is starting to wear off on her a little bit. Cuz the night before that she tried to move into our bed for the first time in a long time and Loren just led her back to bed and she fell right back asleep. But anyway we didn't get to sleep until 2:30 and now I'm SO exhausted. Less than 5 hours of sleep is really not enough for me whether I'm pregnant or not!

I'm trying to remember a few more of the hilarious things she's doing lately. She's got such a personality and talks NONSTOP. But I've got pregnancy brain and if I don't write it down immediately I am not remembering it for longer than a few minutes. Sorry Aly! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-24956544592849391752013-02-21T17:39:00.002-08:002013-02-21T17:39:24.963-08:00Follow-UpSo got my hips adjusted and I was impressed. It was super easy. And it made me feel better simply because the DR confirmed that something was wrong! My left hip was up higher than my right and my L4 vertebrae and sacrum were twisted in opposite directions and stuck there. I feel immediate relief when I sat up after getting it fixed, although I did feel a bit of muscle soreness for a little bit afterwards. But I knew the true test was going to come the next morning when I woke up and tried to get out of bed. I slept so much better last night. It was WAY easier to roll over and I didn't feel like crying once an hour. Getting out of bed was much easier this morning. I still feel lots of stretching and soreness in my upper belly after walking around, but I think I just need a support belt. Anybody used one? Is it worth it to buy one for 5 remaining weeks, or not worth the money?

Been spending the afternoons each day packing and I'm starting to make a dent...I think...I've got most of my clothes all packed and all our books. Loren's got most of his clothes packed too and our pots and pans, etc. I think next I'm going to start tackling Alysha's room. She doesn't play with half her toys anyway and heaven knows she has way more 2T clothes than she's going to wear in the next week. Saturday's going to be the biggest packing day for us. Moving most our stuff to the garage so it's out of the way and then it's just waiting for our closing day to get here. Less than a week! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-56309638604499873452013-02-20T10:49:00.001-08:002013-02-20T10:49:20.493-08:00ReliefSo as I said in the last post, I've been having horrible hip pain. Walking, sitting, rolling, they're all painful. So I brought it up at my last DR appointment and I was worried that she'd say, that's normal for pregnancy, get over it. But luckily she didn't! Instead I'm going into the DR today to have my hips adjusted and hopefully put back into alignment. She said that the ladies that she's known having this done have walked out of the DR office feeling like doing cartwheels! So hopefully that's me :).

We also heard back from the sellers finally about the repairs. They should all be done by the end of this week! Which means we're on track to close and move early next week. So it's been moving and cleaning for us this week. Hopefully we'll be set to have everything ready to go by the end of Saturday night. Loren's been such an amazing help. I feel like garbage, literally every day. I have a hard time standing up long enough to take a shower without feeling like taking a nap afterwards. So he's been doing the majority of the packing so far, which truth be told, he's much better at it than I am anyway. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-9342592972994421432013-02-09T16:54:00.001-08:002013-02-09T16:54:57.631-08:00DiscomfortSo I'm going to try to not post what I've already said, but...pregnancy brain...

House update:

We're 3 weeks away! YAY! We're coming up on the final preparations and I can't even explain how much I can't wait for all this to be done. It's so stressful. I can't imagine trying to do this in a place where we didn't already live! It'd be impossible. We've been on the phone with realtors almost everyday trying to pin down where the sellers are with the work orders. The hard part is that they don't want to use the same companies as we've gotten quotes from so they've been busy getting their own quotes, which I really do understand. They want to make sure they're getting the best deal for their money. The issue has been just making sure that they're using an accredited contractor and mold clean-up company and not just some cousin's, brother-in-law's, best friend. We just want to make sure it's done right so we don't have to do it again down the road! But looks like they're taking the proper measures and we're finally moving along. The next stresses include our appraisal to pass for the FHA loan, and then packing packing packing. We have so much stuff, I just look around and I don't even know where to start. Once we get some boxes and just get going I'm sure it'll go pretty fast.

Baby update:

As I said, all this house stuff has made me a basket case, which I'm sure pregnancy hormones are helping along. Sleep is pretty hard to come by, and when it actually happens I wake up SO sore. I wake up every time I have to roll over. And in addition to that my hips and lower back/abdomen are killing me the next morning. I kinda stagger to the couch and die until Alysha's done with breakfast and then she gets to watch tv while I take a warm shower and try to loosen up. 7 weeks left! ;) Despite the stress, I've been SO much better at keeping my blood pressure down this time. Fortunately. This time, last time, I was put on bed rest for a week while we did tests to see if I had pre-eclampsia. (I didn't). I would not be able to handle bed rest this time!
We're pretty anxious for this house stuff to be over so we can concentrate on baby stuffs. Loren and I were talking last night and it hasn't even become real yet because with Alysha by this point baby stuff had completely taken over our lives. It's all we thought about and spent all our time getting stuff and making sure everything was ready for her arrival. This time we've been SO busy with tax stuff, house stuff, and running after AlyRae, that we haven't even started to get baby stuff ready. It's just going to have to wait. So baby girl stay in there til after March 4th, k! Then we'll have plenty of time to buy a new car seat, set up the crib, wash baby clothes, and prepare for you to join our family. :)
We are also trying to cement a name. Right now we're fairly sure that her first name with be Evelyn. (Evy) We've been coming back to it for the entire pregnancy. But a middle name is a little difficult this time. When we decided on Alysha, Renae came instantly. Loren likes Evelyn Jane. I like Evelyn Claire. I guess we'll give it some more time :). As I said 7 weeks left! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-84820780856620085192013-01-24T15:08:00.000-08:002013-01-24T15:08:21.159-08:00Finally Some Good NewsSo today we finally got the sellers signed forms back! They've agreed to fix the roof :). Loren got to go up and look at it today with a mold specialist. He said it basically looks like whoever redid the roof 9 years ago just covered up the damage with another layer instead of ripping it out and replacing it. Just laziness. And maybe a little bit of the previous owners lack of desire to pay for the work it would be. Anyway it's good news for us because it appears to have been a slow problem over the past 10 years and it's so much better than it could have been. Either way we're happy to know that they're going to take us seriously and fix the problem so we aren't faced with having to walk away from this house that we are excited to be moving into. :)

Also had a DR appointment this week and was very happy to discover that my blood pressure is still perfectly normal. This is the time in my last pregnancy that it started going really high and I had to pass tests and stuff, but not so far! I also passed my glucose test with flying colors which is really amazing with the amount of chocolate that I eat. :) This baby has a serious sweet tooth. :)bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-73047487462098618042013-01-22T11:44:00.000-08:002013-01-22T11:44:04.060-08:00A Home? It's been a wild few weeks. I'm a little anxious to see what my blood pressure's going to look like at my DR appointment tomorrow morning...

After looking at about 30 more houses we put another offer in on a 5 bedroom house off Woodruff. And after a bit of negotiations our offer was accepted. I still feel like we're paying a bit more than the house is worth...but what do I know about houses? :). So then we had our inspection. It was REALLY well. There wasn't anything that was considered to be a major problem, or anything that Loren doesn't feel comfortable fixing himself. The sellers have not been to careful so there were a bunch of fire hazards, but once all their stuff gets out of there those issues will be eliminated! We were congratulating ourselves until he got to the attic. The roof was redone about 9 years ago so we figured all was well. But not so. Probably when they redid the roof, someone stepped through it! Because of the snow we couldn't tell how they fixed that situation, but they did a sloppy, lazy job of it however it was done. Because of it, the fan from the bathroom has been emptying all the moisture into the roof and it was really weak and yucky. So now we've put in that they need to get it fixed before we continue on. We didn't know if they maybe didn't know about it? Or maybe they didn't know it was so bad? Or maybe they're just really dishonest people, either way, hopefully they can see the light and accept to fix it or we'll have to walk away. Again. Their realtor seemed to think it wouldn't be that big of a deal for them to fix it, so hopefully he's right. I worry about the snow issue and this is not a very great time of year to be redoing a roof. We're supposed to hear back by tomorrow.

Then it's been kinda haunting me that I needed to check our car seat and see when it expires. Lo and behold I was stupid when buying it secondhand, and it expired while we were using it with Alysha. So now we're faced with the dilemma of <strike>buying a new one</strike>, buying another secondhand one, or possibly using this one for a month until we can afford a new one. Luckily we still have about 2 months until the baby decides to make an appearance (hopefully).

Despite these issues we've been having, I'm still so happy with the decision I made to quit my job. I'm so much happier being with Alysha everyday. And she's better behaved too. Or maybe it's just that I'm not as tired by bedtime so I have more patience for her acting up! :) We also haven't eaten out NEARLY as much with me staying home. And amazingly the house it a bit cleaner :) Mission accomplished. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-86221040930573252512013-01-07T09:29:00.001-08:002013-01-07T09:29:46.789-08:00January BluesWell we lost that house too. Just by a couple of hours! It was a pretty sad way to start out the new year. But we moved on and saw about 35 more houses that week. I'm exhausted! All that house hunting got me pretty cranky by the end of the week. But we might have found another one. It's a well taken care of 5 bedroom house. We love it, but we need them to come down in price about 5 grand. So we'll see if they're willing. :)

Now to take down my Christmas tree......bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-55607209216324973862012-12-29T16:03:00.003-08:002012-12-29T16:03:50.083-08:00FlipperWell we went house hunting again today. And we might have struck gold! After seeing a couple houses that we weren't quite thrilled with, we found another house that had been flipped. The man finished about a month ago and so we'd be the first in there since the remodel and it's beautiful! 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and in a perfect location. :) We are hoping to put an offer down on Monday or Tuesday, so stay tuned! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-50836719345478966902012-12-26T12:06:00.001-08:002012-12-26T12:06:30.394-08:00Christmas FestivitesThese few weeks we've stayed SO busy! Between my doctor appointment, Alysha's doctor appointment, Loren getting the flu twice, Alysha and me both getting the flu while Loren was out of town, and all of us having head colds, it's a miracle we're alive! :)
2 weeks ago I made the decision to quit my job. I'd been talking about it since before Thanksgiving and the moment finally presented itself. I felt bad at first. I didn't want to see myself as a quitter. After all I'd only been at this job since August, but I really felt like it was the right thing to do. And now I'm even more confident that it's definitely the right thing to do! I love being home with Alysha again where I can teach her what I want her to know and not have all the outside influences teaching her naughty behaviors. And I feel like I can take better care of our house, our nutrition (or lack of...), and myself much better when I work in the home. I feel like I'm a happier wife for Loren and a better mommy to our babies. So now on to January, where I learn how to clean again! ;)
We made the decision a few months ago to stay home for Christmas this year. And I was really looking forward to making our own traditions and just enjoying it the 3 of us! We went Christmas shopping a few weeks ago, drove around and saw Christmas light displays, decorated a Gingerbread Train, and baked cookies for Santa. We did spend Christmas Eve with some friends. Eating pizza, opening jammies, and watching Arthur Christmas. Alysha is having SO much fun with other kids now! I love being able to go over to houses and she can just play without TOO much supervision. Preparations for Christmas were really fun too. She helped me decorate the tree while Loren was out of town for a week, she helped with the baking, and she handed me tape while I wrapped. :). She also LOVED all the Christmas songs and movies that we get to enjoy just this time of year. Christmas morning was pretty smooth...She didn't get a lot of good sleep the night before so she was a bit grouchy. Once all the presents were opened up we put her back down for a nap. And then the rest of the day was fairly pleasant. :) She's really fun to watch with her new baby doll from our secret santa and with her Little People house. Loren did a great job of shopping for me too. He got me some new clothes that I can wear with my rapidly expanding belly. I love that he always tries to make sure I'm comfortable. He's really considerate while I'm just hormonally imbalanced.
It turned out to be a blessing that we hadn't planned to go anywhere this year because Saturday morning our car wouldn't start. A pulley that we'd been putting off getting fixed for months finally bit the dust and the car couldn't hold a charge so we weren't going anywhere. We planned on just settling into our house until Wednesday after the holidays were over, but a friend of our called to check on plans for Christmas Eve, and Loren told her about our van and asked if they wouldn't mind picking us up for dinner instead of us driving over there, and she mentioned that her brother was a mechanic and he was working that day and gave us his number. So lucky us, he had the van fixed by Monday afternoon for much less that it would have cost us other places. What a Christmas miracle! We're discovering the hardships of having only 1 car, but it's still cheaper than having a car payment on a 2nd car each month. :) Loren and I both agree that we'd rather wait until we can pay for a car outright, rather than having to take out a loan.
Speaking of loans, our house search starts again next week. We would really like to move out of the apartment before the baby comes and we're starting to run out of time! 13 weeks and counting!! :Dbethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-86874004287048842712012-12-11T16:32:00.001-08:002012-12-11T16:32:16.657-08:00WelpWell we lost the house. The bank accepted a different offer, so we are back in the search again. Which I'm a little bit mixed about. I felt pretty sad when we first found out, but now I'm ok. As I think I said before, I didn't feel comfortable with the area of town that the house was in. And it didn't have a garage, or grass...And this kinda gives us another chance to step back and look at where we're at again. We're comfortable here, but we'd like to move for sure. This gives Loren another chance to apply in Utah again and see what we might be able to get.
In other news Aly is growing great. She's expanding her vocabulary like a crazy person. She talks constantly and she's started repeating the words of songs in the car, which is super cute. But it's making me a little bit more aware of what I'm watching on tv while she's awake, or the music I'm blasting in the car. (She loves Tonight, Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae btw) She's also taken to playing with her doll a lot more too. It's fantastic! I'm so glad she's getting more into creative play and not just getting into my stuff anymore. She's going to be a good big sister. And I'm so excited for Christmas. She'll love it! She loves Santa. But she'll love him even more when she see what he brings her this year. :)
The baby girl is also growing fabulously! She moves around just as much as her sister does. I'm very excited for her to get here in just 16 short weeks! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-81966022084944456582012-11-20T19:08:00.004-08:002012-11-20T19:08:43.387-08:00Babies!! So my good friends had a baby girl on Sunday and that got me even more excited for our own event on Monday! We got to have our 20 week ultrasound Monday afternoon. It was such a good feeling to see the baby squirming around up on the screen. I just feel so blessed every time I feel it move around. I'm so grateful for this baby. And we got to find out that our prayers had been answered and we're having another girl!! It may seem like a silly thing to pray about, but we really wanted a sister for Aly. We're so excited to see our two girls growing and playing together. I'm so excited to get out the baby clothes again and start getting their room set up. But I'm holding off til February. Promise. :)

Now on to Thanksgiving. Heaven help me to make it to Friday without saying something snotty to my in-laws. Everyone's been driving me crazy lately. EVERYONE. And I know my in-laws would take it personally. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-40516335647612328842012-11-02T19:32:00.001-07:002012-11-02T19:32:13.198-07:00A HomeI haven't had an opportunity to blog in a while. I feel like life is moving so fast!
So the pregnancy is going really good. I feel a bit different than I remember feeling last time, so I wonder if maybe it's a boy? But my sister-in-law pointed out to me that lots of things are different this time too. I'm under a LOT less stress than last time so it could just be my body reacting a little bit better to being invaded. :) We find out in 2 weeks the gender and I can't wait! I'm excited to be able to talk more seriously about some names, and plan our next year a little bit more.
Today we met with our realtor and signed a house offer. TALK ABOUT SCARY! Loren and I are real adults now ;). It's a short sale so we might have to wait up to 3 months to hear back, but we're really hopeful. Every time we walk through the house, we leave feeling more like we want to live there. There's another offer out there for it, but we're really hoping we can look more attractive than them. Always accepting prayers in our behalf!
We really feel so blessed right now tho. Loren got a raise yesterday and we are just so grateful that we both have good jobs right now. And that the baby's doing good. Aly's potty training is going ok. She's going about half the time in the potty. But she holds it most of the day. Then she goes while she's sleeping after lunch or at night. She has an iron bladder. But stickers and candy are helping us convince her to go in the potty. And she does like to wear panties.
Goodness I'm so tired all the time. I can't even think if there's anything else worth reporting on right now! Did this post even make sense? I think it was just a scattered bunch of thoughts :). Happy Friday! bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-23184923675889894042012-09-24T16:55:00.002-07:002012-09-24T16:55:18.743-07:00Ch Ch ChangesSo many changes in our home!
1: Loren and I are expecting again!!! We've had two ultrasounds checking on everything and I've made it to 13 1/2 weeks! We're VERY excited! Our new little one makes an appearance at the end of March 2013.
2: Aly is now in a BIG GIRL BED! She started climbing out of her crib last week, so we had her sleeping on a mattress on the floor to see how she'd do. She is pretty good about staying there. Naps are a little bit harder since it's not dark outside, but she's learning. Yesterday we set up her "new" big girl bed! She had a great night in it last night. It's pretty much on the ground, so when she fell out of it at some point last night she just reached up and grabbed her pillow and blanket and slept on the floor instead. It was really cute :).
3: We started potty training today. She has been sitting on the potty for a few weeks now whenever we can catch her at the right moment, but I'm sitting her on there every 15 minutes tonight so she can get what's supposed to happen. I'm not expecting this to go quickly, but hopefully she'll catch on pretty fast.
4: Loren and I are officially house-hunting :). We have been around to see about 6 houses so far and we think we might have found the one. We're still just a little hesitant. It's scary! So we're going to look around a little bit more and decide for sure. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-85517265361907449282012-09-13T19:03:00.000-07:002012-09-13T19:12:13.462-07:00Welcome to my busy life!Tomorrow is the first day off I've had in a while. My weekends are so busy now that I'm working full-time again. I love feeling busy again. I'm really enjoying putting together my own lesson plans everyday. I like that I'm teaching four year olds because I can expect them to sit in their chairs and work on a worksheet and they actually can do it! They are actually teaching me a lot too. I've gotten a lot more patient and I've become a better morning person. That was a forced lesson ;). Alysha loves going everyday. She has made lots of friends! Today she actually threw a fit having to leave :). She's learning a lot. Like how to stick up for herself. How to get along with other kids. How to actually sit down and eat a meal. :) And today she pointed out some "A"s on signs. I was so proud :). She's also getting much better at counting. She still counts, 3, 2, 3, Go! But still...it's progress :D. She's really the best.
bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-65503392019366269782012-09-13T18:57:00.001-07:002012-09-13T19:03:05.762-07:00Happy September This is the classic I love my husband post :)

We celebrated our anniversary last week and I just am amazed at how much I still love him. :) With there being so many people around us having problems, I just can't imagine my life without Loren. I love how he's always supportive of my crazy ideas. I love how he works so hard for our family, to help us get ahead in our life. I love what a great father he is to our baby(s). ;) I love that I can count on him to pick up after my short-comings. We make a great team. These past years have been the best of my life. Can't wait for the years to come!
bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-13563600442516941702012-08-14T11:07:00.001-07:002012-08-14T11:07:11.058-07:00Happenings in the Honeycutt homeOoops. Another month went by. Seems to be happening a lot lately. We haven't been super busy tho. I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures coming in the fall! Despite the heat we've been really trying to get out of the house at least once a day. Aly goes pretty crazy with me for 12 hours if we don't. Sometimes all we do is walk to the mailbox and back, but it gets the job done. She's getting so smart! She repeats all the words we say and can run, jump, dance, twirl, almost do a sommersault, shout, whisper, sing. She still uses a little bit of sign language, and any song with actions is a major hit. She recently inherited a play kitchen from a family in our ward that was giving it to DI, but stopped at our house first. She loves it! She brings me plates with tomatoes and fish on them all day. All the play food and she picks tomatoes and fish?? She also thinks "washing the dishes" in her sink is very fun. Next step, loading the dishwasher. She's grown out of most of her 18 month clothes and into her 2T clothes, except pants cuz she's so skinny! Probably cuz she only eats dinner, usually. Oh and lunch isn't too big of a fight somedays. It's just a small meal. She loves to dress herself, but it's usually a pair of pants, and a dress, and a shirt, and a coat, and a tutu....and why won't Mommy put on another dress?? She loves to color and drink from a straw. She is getting good at helping put on her seatbelt in the car. She is pretty good about getting anything I ask her to find, shoes, diapers, Mommy's cell phone...etc. But sometimes she gets distracted. Whenever we leave the house, she grabs everything in the living room she can possibly carry and tries to bring it with us. Hence our car is usually a mess. Also apparently we only do our hair right before we leave the house because as soon as I finish with her hair she runs to the door and grabs her shoes while yelling "bye bye!!" But she's very good at sitting still while I do her ponytails or play with the curling iron. Veggietales on Youtube helps too. She's getting pretty good at throwing a ball, but she's much better at fetching it. She gives everyone high fives/knuckles/elbows (in that order) everywhere we go. And yesterday at the grocery store everyone we passed got a "HI!!" "BYE!!" And of course yesterday much have been old person shopping day cuz they were all grandmas/grandpas and they all said it back. She also makes this really loud shrieking noise, just cuz it's fun, and all the other kids in the store think it's fun too. So all the while I'm pushing the cart, she's making this noise, other kids start making this noise, and all the other moms go "SHHH" and look at me like I'm the weird one. At least she's not crying!! :) All in all our days are pretty full of fun, and a few time-outs too.
New with me is my job! I will be teaching preschool at a daycare starting next Wednesday. I'm a little nervous about commanding all those 4 year olds attention, but I think I can handle it. I've found some great blogs that have tons of theme ideas with crafts and songs and all sorts of shenanigans. So I'll be teaching in the morning, then "baby-sitting" in the afternoon til their moms come. Aly gets to come with me, but she'll be in a different room. I think it will be good for her too. She'll be doing a mini pre-school and get more experience with kids her own age. And we're looking forward to potty-training starting in January!
Loren has been keeping busy with his two jobs and then any computer work on the side that comes his way. He works hard for our family, but we sure do miss him! Weekends are savored time.
Speaking of, last weekend we decided to be spontaneous and finally take that Yellowstone trip we'd been pushing back all summer. We loaded up Friday afternoon and went. It was raining so hard by the time we got to Island Park. We were hydro-planing and you couldn't see in front of the car. But I didn't think it was safe to pull over either, so we just kept going! Loren even recorded a final video of us, just in case. ;) By the time we reached our campsite in the middle of the park it had slowed to a trickle and within 10 minutes the rain had stopped. We got a little fire going, pitched the tent, ate some much NEEDED food, and went to bed. Alysha had a rough night as she had a cold. She coughed ALL NIGHT LONG. So Loren and I didn't get much sleep either. But we woke in the morning excited about what we could see that day. We headed first to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. It was a great hike down to the lower falls. So pretty! But the hike back up was pretty awful. It was all steep switchbacks. One lady passed me and said to her husband, "Maybe we shouldn't keep going. Nobody going up looks very happy." By the time we got back up, Aly just stood there dazing in the middle of the trail. It was pretty hilarious. Loren had to walk back and pick her up and carry her the rest of the way to the car. Then we went to the Artist's Paintpots. I love all the bubbly mud. I think it's so cool! And it was so crazy on Saturday that we almost got splattered with it! Then we stopped a Beryl Spring for a few minutes and headed to Old Faithful. I must have forgotten how long it takes in between eruptions because I didn't think we had to wait very long. 1 1/2 hours later I was kinda perturbed, but it went off eventually and was pretty sweet :). Loren hadn't seen it before and Aly got a good nap in the stroller so it was good. We got ice cream and it was 4 in the afternoon and I was starting to feel the effects of (not really) sleeping on the ground all night. So decided we'd save the other 3 things we wanted to see until the next visit which will probably be in a couple weeks and we headed for home. Over all Aly was really good in the car for so long. And it was a great mini vacation for us! And much needed alone time with Loren/Daddy. bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-12609841591003612612012-07-19T14:35:00.001-07:002012-07-19T14:35:49.969-07:00Sewing

I made Aly a dress today :) I bought this fabric a while ago and have just been searching for a good pattern. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out :)

Here is the pattern I based the dress on. But I added a ruffle on the bottom and I did my straps a little differently. My next project is a watermelon pillow so I can learn to machine applique :)bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-78066833578101101202012-06-12T22:56:00.002-07:002012-06-12T22:56:30.930-07:00Tuesday PositivityToday I woke up and told myself that I didn't have another choice. I just feel sad. But there's nothing that ZUMBA can't fix!bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-80324738714575701442012-06-07T10:07:00.000-07:002012-06-07T10:07:58.450-07:00The Sad OneI should be posting about our WONDERFUL trip to DC, but that's not what's on my mind today so I'm not yet. :)

So I went to the doctor while I was in DC. My health insurance doesn't cover doctors in Idaho (silly I know) so I went to one in VA just because there were a few things I was worried about. The number one thing I was worried about was my hair loss. For the past few years I keep finding bald spots on my head.(The first time) I'm completely bald there for a few months then it starts to grow back. It's so annoying! Everytime I go to my dr here he prescribed amoxycicilan (sp) but I feel like there's more that needs to be done there. I hate just taking pills cuz he doesn't know what else it could be. So turns out I have an autoimmune disease called Alopecia Areata. Basically my body sees my hair as a virus and gets rid of it. Then it passes and the hair grows back. It's not anything that I can fix or cure and I might lose all my hair in time, but for now it's just an annoyance.
The other thing on my mind should have been a wonderful announcement. 3 weeks ago Loren and I found out we were pregnant again! Yay! We'd been "not trying not to have a baby" for about 5 months and we were SO excited at the prospect of being parents again. We got Aly a "big sister" shirt and had her wear it off the plane when we went to visit my parents and announced to them! I got all my blood work done where I could get it done for free. When we got back to Utah we told Loren's brother and sister-in-law the great news! Then told my aunt later that night too :). But Sunday morning I miscarried. It makes me numb to even think about it. We were even more excited than the last time. because this time we were actually trying to get pregnant. It's heartbreaking. I always heard about people miscarrying multiple times. A friend of mine miscarried 7 times! But I always thought, "oh, that doesn't happen in my family. We all have healthy, good pregnancies. I won't have a problem with this." And who knows. Maybe this is better; maybe something was wrong; or maybe something would have been bad down the road; maybe it would have been a really hard year; guess I'll never know. I just keep thinking, "What if this is it? What if Aly's meant to be an only child?" I guess she'll be one spoiled child. :) I love her so much and I'm so glad to have her in my life.

Maybe my next post will be happier and about our vacation? I'll try to get to it soon.bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610420913638094540.post-12378966153397612612012-05-22T08:38:00.000-07:002012-05-22T08:38:06.452-07:00The Right ThingsIsn't it amazing that even when things are going bad as long as you keep "keeping on" things will work out. Even though I've lost my job, I still will receive paychecks until the middle of July, so that gives me lots of time to find another job. Even though Loren missed registration and nobody bothered to tell him, he was able to email the professors and he got accepted into 3 classes. We have the prospects of a house to live in also. Hopefully we'll hear back from the lady soon. And even my problems with all my "systems" have started to fix themselves...except the whole losing hair thing, I don't get that. We just have to keep attending our church meetings and reading scriptures with Aly and having family prayer every night. And Loren got to attend the temple on Saturday and that brings such strength into our family. I'm going next Wednesday :).bethann08http://www.blogger.com/profile/17319969586031918133noreply@blogger.com0
